The Domestic Terminal Building Security Upgrade Project (DTB SUP) delivers major improvements to Brisbane Airport’s security screening and baggage-handling infrastructure. Designed to meet mandated threat-detection requirements, the project upgrades passenger, staff, and goods screening areas, integrates new screening technologies, and enhances key terminal facilities.
Works include improvements to check-in, bag drop, baggage reclaim, amenities, retail and circulation areas, as well as construction of a new Level 2 infill to connect the terminal to the linkbridge. The project also involves staged reconfiguration of the Baggage Handling System, creation of a centralised checked-baggage screening facility, replacement of Main Switchboards 1–3, and significant upgrades to the airport’s electrical backbone.
Because Brisbane Airport operates 24/7 without a curfew, extensive planning and coordination were required to complete the works. More than 170 planned isolations were successfully undertaken without disrupting normal airport operations, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery.
